Converting from Windows to Linux?
I have an old PC is a P4, 1.8 MHz My Windows disk is corrupted and Windows is getting a little shaky. Everything that using the machine for basic things such as surfing the Web, instant messaging and basic word processing and spreadsheet material from light. The games they play online games things are not graphics intensive. Euchre, and holdem, a solo line. Can I put Linux on this machine and get programs to do these things? Can I take completely out the window? Can I get printer drivers for Linux and material?
Linux sounds like a good choice for you. Ubuntu comes with Open Office (like Microsoft Office), Firefox (such as Windows Explorer), and other useful software. Drivers can usually is integrated into the operating system or on the website of your printer manufacturer. A quick web search should tell you if any. You should know, is not the same Windows from Microsoft, and take time to adjust. It also requires some computer knowledge to use it effectively. However, after entering in the learning curve will be easy. Remember to backup your data before installing any new operating system.
