Can you take a DVD-ROM drive of a computer tower with Windows 1998 and use it on a computer with XP?
I have a lot of games that I want to install in this team, but it turns out that this computer has a DVD-ROM Drive! Only a CD-ROM with the ability to record CD-ROM ... I have a very old computer tower with Windows 98 that has a DVD-ROM ... Could he have to come and put it on this computer, or not?
these other answers are partially correct. Yes, DVD drive will work with the old XP computer (provided you have a spare IDE connector). but we must check that the jumper setting on the DVD matches existing CD drive. bridge is in the rear of the unit, near the IDE connector. There are three possible options - master, slave and cable select (usually labeled CS). before placing the DVD drive, verify that you have the same bridge configuration as the CD, or XP system will not detect.
