My brother wants to install a game on my computer, but is included with StarForce. How can I stay safe
Basically, my little brother went to Wal-Mart, bought a "Curious George" DVD-ROM, and tried to install on your computer. Whoops. Your computer is 5 years old and may not play DVD's. So now I am being pushed to install it on my laptop. Not bad, as it plays here only an hour or less per day. But wait, the game comes with StarForce, the infamous (http://www.boingboing.net/2006/01/30/anticopying_malware_.html, for example) the copy protection system that kills demand units and who gets in his way. My question is: If I were to install this game, what can I do to protect myself from the evils of Starforce? Why hell does this company not even exist?
Allow me to coin a new vocabulary that will be included in each dictionary word list dictionary of synonyms, scrabble helper, etc. Controlware: software that is on purpose or not, interfere with user control of a machine according to this definition, all viruses, spyware protection software against adware, malware, and some of the more stupid copy, especially StarForce DRM and Sony, is classified as Controlware
