I receive an error when I play Final Fantasy 7 on my computer, is it the game or my computer?
I've been able to play until the necessary Chocobo race Disk 1. I have the game uses outside of eBay. I do not know if it was the game or compatibility with my computer since I am running Windows XP and the game came out in 1998.
It is the game / OS. Eidos has done a poor job making the PC port, and as a result, it is rather buggy, especially on XP and Vista. What is running in single and guaranteed issue with FF7 in XP: standard installation the game will hang in the Chocobo races at all times. Thankfully, a patch is commonly called Chocobo patch to update the game to version 1.02 to fix this problem. A quick Google search that lets you find, or you can go to qhimm.com, the best Messageboards on the net for the PC versions of FF7 and FF8. So what you do * not * install the FF7 XP patch. It's garbage. The creator (who has the screen name AnimeVamp) collected FF7 a lot of other patches (some of whom did not even solve the problems they say) and packaged them all together, without the permission of their creators or recognized. The only original part is a patch to supposedly improve playback of MIDI in FF7. In some systems, it does. In other systems, it is not. Regardless, sometimes completely screws up MIDI playback for all but FF7, and the only way to fix it is to completely reinstall Windows.
