Value Added Services: Wire and Cable Modifications
Wires and cables usually do not come with any necessary modifications for a specific application. For example, your application may request wire with ink-jet printing for easy identification during installation and use. Similarly, it is possible you want your wires dyed various colors for circuit identification system. This is where value-added manufacturers take over.
Several manufacturers supply distributors, wire harness manufacturers and OEMs with value-added services for wire and cable products. A service indicates a value-added customization of an order that goes beyond a basic or core. In other words, it benefits the end user by the "value added "to the standard service offered.
In the electric wire and cable industry, value-added services include twisted, cut and strip, printing bar codes, tint, custom set-ups, striping, and more. These services fall into four categories principal - Identification Solutions, Installation Solutions, Solutions for labeling, and packaging solutions.
Identification Solutions: segmentation, dyeing and printing
Striping and dyeing
Manufacturers and distributors of electrical wire often add streaks or dye of a basic cable of another color. These processes are multifunctional, since they add value to the product, differentiate wire the circuit to identify and help control the volume of stored material.
To dye a wire, a machine specially built feeding the product through a cable system of pulleys. First, the cable passes through the cleaner, "" a circle foam that covers the whole cable. Almost all isolates are capable of being striped, including PVC, rubber, silicone and PTFE. Similar to striping, most PVC compounds can be stained to individual specifications without encountering any problems. However, some compounds that are irradiated CV-cured or not they can be dyed, as they were originally designed to repel oil and alkaline based chemicals. The color will not soak into the insulation and is prone to flaking.
Besides the creation common band and methods of dyeing, there are other ways of marking of wires for identification. Many OEMs and manufacturers prefer to use wire printed using their assembled products. Printed wire not only helps in the assembly of products, but also benefits installers and users of the finished product.
One way to wire is marked with ink jet printing. Using a dot matrix printer, a series of "dots" to create characters in a string. For example, in the automotive industry, a harness can be manufactured for turn signals. In this case, the specific cable inkjet printer would be "left front turn signal "or" tail lights. "Each cable would be a color code in the harness and inkjet printer, so it is easy to use and easily identifiable.
Another way of marking wire is hot stamping, which involves a process similar to a typewriter. A character with form of "head" strikes a colored ribbon, making the selected character (s) to appear on the cable.
Installation guides: Twisting, braiding, and Cut & Strip
Twisting
Many OEMs need pairs of wire in the manufacturing process. Grouping of one or more conductor cables in various configurations can dramatically reduce installation time. Allows wires are together, which in turn makes it easier to work with them.

Braiding is a process in which small chains are intertwined in the top of a wire or cable for added protection. At the outset, reel number, also called "coils" of very small gauge wire (32-36 AWG) are inserted into a braided wire machine.
The coils are each placed in a specific location within the machine and the ends of each coil are pulled to the top of the braiding machine. Then the coils are subjected to a motion or circular knitting yarn, while a wire or cable is pulled through the center of coils. As the process begins synchronized, or mesh fabric is made through the cable. Finally, the finished product is extracted from the braid machine a queue larger or reward.
Cut & Strip
Having your cut and stripped wire saves time and money and avoid excess waste. Say you need 1000 of four pieces of an inch of wire to install the printers that you manufacture. For each piece, .5 inches need exposed wires on the ends. Cut and Strip process begins at one end of a cutting machine and pulls a spool which is performed as is called a "reward". UL and CSA Labels

Government RFID Tags
