Dell Inspiron 1420 AC power adapter repair guide
If you have enough experience to make such repairs, following the suggestions below will help to repair the power connector on a Dell laptop.
1. Remove the cable from the laptop and power supply.
2. Court the wire at any point outside the damaged area so that you can make a clean cut. It is best to leave at least a few millimeters between the damaged area and cut to ensure no damage to the cables connected.
3. Unsolder the power socket on the motherboard already removed from the laptop. Both the plate base and the Dell Inspiron 1420 AC Adapter Jack must be cleaned properly and then weld again.
4. Carefully start cutting the plastic exterior of the two extremes wire cutting an inch from the end. Do this gently and do not want to cut the wires wrapped around the inner insulation. Remove excess plastic.

7. Ensure complete connection with a complete wrap of electrical tape, and test your connection.

I have no idea of the power adapter i need for my video card?
I have a BFG NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB PCIe that I put on my computer, a Dell Dimension 4700, but can not connect the plug does not fit the video card to power it. Does anyone know the adapter I need for this by chance? Thank you.
If your power supply does not have the connections necessary for a graphics card may be unable to feed properly. What you could try, is a 4-pin Molex to 6 pin PCIe adapter. If I have system instability or poor performance after using this, you may only need a new source power completely.
