New MacBook Pro will not detect my .. monitor?
I just purchased my MacBook Pro 13in 2.53 a week ago with the MiniDisplay DVI adapter. Today my DVI-D cable and I in my monitor connected to DVI cable, the cable to the adapter, then the adapter to the MBP. Before connecting the DVI cable into the adapter, my monitor says no signal DVI (expected) when I plug the cable into the adapter, then that message disappears and goes into power saving mode. When you plug the adapter into the GPA, nothing happens ... The screen remains black. Upon entering the system preferences and click "detect displays" also does nothing. I'm running OS X 10.5.8. I'm using the DVI adapter and a Monster DVI-D. My monitor is a 22IN hyvision Megavisión and works well via VGA on my xbox. I tried to reset the pram, reconnecting cables, etc. The MBP is plugged in so that's not the point. I have no idea what to do now and I'm pretty annoyed frustrated ... If anyone can help me would be appreciated.
Try closing your MacBook in the first place and once the laptop is completely off, connect everything. Then, the power and see if it detects the monitor connected.
