If I buy a laptop or a laptop, what can I buy that can connect to the internet without other additions
The previous post is missing a few pieces of information. While most newer laptops come with a wireless cababilities function, also need a WAP (wireless access point) to connect and an Internet connection. By purchasing the equipment senses the type of wireless (such as Wireless-B or G). This is important because if you have a Wireless-G card, you want to get a WAP G Wireless. This way you can get the most out of your wireless network. WAP B can only accommodate connections B, but most can accommodate G WAP connections both B and G. Wireless-G is the faster of the two. It also requires Internet connection through a modem that connects to the WAP. Note that the speed of your Internet connection is as fast as the slowest device chain. In other words, the router can handle 54 Mbps, but that will only help you in your local network (computer to computer). If the modem is 6Mbps, then that is what your Internet speed will be. Although the speed may vary by service provider. For example, cable Internet is clustered, which sometimes are not always the same speed.
