How to format a hard disk of a Compaq laptop?
I have a Compaq V5000 laptop> I have a virus. I was told restart the computer. Once the startup screen appears to keep pressing F10. They said it would lead to the restoration screen.When do this only leads me to my bios.I wondering if anyone knows how to format restore my computer back to factory settings? Thank you.
Ive had some very nasty virus before and had to reinstall the operating system. During re-installation, you should carry that with you want to do with your hard drive. One option would be to reformat the hard disk will erase everything including the virus. To start the installation (im assuming the op is Windows) to insert the installation disc or disk backup and press F10 to enter the BIOS. Then go to the boot and set the boot device priority to be on the order of your CD / DVD first, then the hard disk. Then save and exit. This will continue the implementation of your system, but before it gets to Windows, you will see letters on the screen says "Press any key to boot from the hard ........" and then press a key. You will see the Windows startup created and follow the instructions and directions and must be well. WARNING: you may want to back up files that need, such as documents and pictures, as they erased with Hardrive formatting.
