USB MIDI Interfaces Using "In his home studio
To quickly summarize what you already know, MIDI is a programming language that allows two instruments different hardware / software, or any combination of them to communicate. One thing to note is that it is a computer language, and so there is no audio in this process. Computers talk to each other through a series of 1s and 0s, and that's all any type of music via MIDI is doing.
MIDI cables and interfaces do not seem anything else around (except maybe XLR). A MIDI cable is relatively thin, but their ends are round and fat, and if you look at the side of the connection, which basically is a circle with four needles protruding from it - these cable ends are connected to MIDI ports that have the holes for these pins. Modern keyboards, synthesizers and drum machines usually have MIDI ports on them, and prospective buyers should definitely check before buying one. Even if you do not use MIDI hardware now, once you've learned how beneficial it might certainly begin. Most computers made today (unless custom made) do not have MIDI ports on them, thus requiring a separate interface to connect the MIDI to your computer (and therefore its software).
The best way to connect a MIDI device to your computer is to buy USB to MIDI interface. This is usually a small electronic device the size of a cable modem or router. You will need MIDI ports on your keyboard, etc and then connect to your computer via a USB cable - the connection most commonly used for computers (the U means universal). It is often more than just plugging in the cables, as USB driver installation is required to work with your computer - are the same types of drivers needed to connect any piece of hardware to the computer as printer, mouse, etc. Be sure to check the compatibility of the interface with any operating system is running (Windows 98, Vista, Mac, etc.).
Your keyboard / synth / drum machine will have a MIDI Out 'port on it. Connect the MIDI cable into this and the other end into the MIDI In 'in the interface port USB. Make sure that the interface connects to the computer via USB, install all the drivers, plug it all and should be ready to go.

Midi to USB cable and help control the keyboard?
I own a "Yamaha DX7" keyboard synthesizer, and tried to connect to my computer for use with "Reason 4", I have a midi to USB cable and the computer sees it but when the "New Hardware Found" message appears that can not find the driver to install or whatever, and now I'm trying to pick myself, but I have no idea what I'm doing, can anyone here help me find out how to do this?
Go to the website of the cable manufacturer. They probably have a unit that can download and install.
