Apple Mighty Mouse
About the mouse
Mighty Mouse is made of white plastic and has a recessed Apple logo on the face of the mouse. The mouse has four functional "buttons": a capacitive sensor on the left, one right capacitive sensor, a tracker ball with a pressure sensor and lateral pressure sensors. The trackball allows users to scroll through a page or document in any direction by rolling the ball in the desired direction. Two of the inputs mentioned above are not physical buttons. Rather, the touch topshell (mentioned below) and pressure sensor allow the trackball mouse to detect which side is touched or if the wheel is held in.
Mac OS X is currently the only operating system fully compatible with mouse. When used with Mac OS X sensors can be configured to launch applications or trigger features of Apple's operating system, such as Dashboard and Expos. Unless used with Mac OS X, the mouse behaves as a four button mouse with scroll wheel vertical and horizontal. There are drivers from other manufacturers (xmouse, Appleman) that offer more features to users of other platforms such as Windows.
The Mighty Mouse does not report whether the left and right sensor is activated simultaneously. In fact, reports of a right click only when no contact with the finger on the left side of the mouse. This means that Mighty Mouse can not support mouse line, used by the CAD software, games and other applications where multiple roles are assigned to the mouse.
Versions and sell dates
The wireless Mighty Mouse
2 August 2005, Apple introduced the Mighty Mouse, the suggested retail price of U.S. $ 49.
On October 12, 2005, Apple began selling a mighty mouse with all the iMac, and 19 October 2005, with the Power Mac G5 line also. The user has the option to upgrade to an Apple Keyboard Apple Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Wireless Mouse.
On July 25, 2006, Apple launched a Mighty Mouse uses Bluetooth 2.0 wireless. The new version uses two AA batteries, but may work with a single AA battery to reduce weight. Wireless Mighty Mouse is priced at $ 69.
On August 7, 2007, Apple updated the Mighty Mouse light, changing the color of the compression of the blank areas. Until September 2009, the cable version of Mighty Mouse costs $ 49, while the wireless version costs $ 69.
On October 20, 2009, Apple was forced to change the name of Apple's Mighty Mouse Mouse, due to legal questions about the name.
In That same day, Apple announced and launched a brand new mouse called Magic Mouse Apple, built with an aluminum base with a multi panel. Like the trackpad MacBook, this new version also introduced gestures. This version uses two AA batteries and will retail for $ 69.

Criticism
Although the Mighty Mouse can detect the left and right clicks can not press both sensors simultaneously. The user must learn to lift the left finger sensor surface before trying a right click of the mouse.
The scroll ball will eventually become clogged with dirt and need cleaning. While there are methods cleaning the ball without removing the mouse some users have complained that the Mighty Mouse is difficult to clean because the scroll ball mechanism is difficult to remove.
Name
Before launching the device, Apple received a license for the name "Mighty Mouse" of Viacom, and then CBS Operations, as owner of the animated series Mighty Mouse, the title having been registered in the U.S. as a trademark in respect of various goods (such as T-shirts and multivitamins) associated with the character. However, the mark does not cover peripherals, and CBS would not apply to the brand in the U.S. term about computer mice, until mid-2007.
On May 21, 2008 it was announced that the man and machine Inc., a supplier of keyboards and mice to laboratories and hospitals Apple Inc. sued for trademark infringement over his use of the name Mighty Mouse. Man & Machine Inc. had four registered or pending registration in the computer noting several related technologies, including "Cool Mouse", "Really Cool" and "Man and machine design." The Mighty Mouse disputed particular brand was first introduced by man and machine Inc., on December 18, 2007 under the name "Computer devices cursor control, namely, computer mice "after the presentation of the CBS, but claiming use for the first time in 2004, before the introduction Apple device.
Following an opposition on both sides against the other, CBS later withdrew its application, which allows man and machine U.S. to register the mark for computer mice. As a result, Apple stopped selling the mice in the framework of the "Mighty Mouse" name on 20 October 2009 when it introduced the Wireless Mouse Magic Mouse and renamed existing cable "Apple Mouse".
Of course, CBS was successful registration of "Mighty Mouse" as a trademark for computer mice, in some other countries, including Canada, although Apple however, opted to change its name product internationally.
