IBM pSeries Emulation Guide
IBM pSeries line of servers, also known as IBM System p, RS/6000 was originally named. These servers running the AIX, IBM i or Linux systems. IBM pSeries line of servers has been replaced by IBM Power ™ Systems.
Virtualization and Consolidation Servers
Using IBM PowerVM virtualization technology for the pSeries, organizations can consolidate many applications on AIX, IBM i operating systems Linux on a single server. Server consolidation offers many benefits, including reducing the costs associated with maintaining multiple servers.
PowerVM for pSeries virtualization also provides resources for processors and input / output resources, which enables organizations to reduce costs associated with maintaining system by optimizing the amount of resources in use. Servers using virtualization can regulate the changing workload demands and adjust the use resources for optimal performance without human intervention.
Energy Management
Rising energy prices have resulted in a need for energy efficient server solutions to control costs. Organizations can alleviate the costs associated with feeding their data centers monitoring the use of energy. IBM Active Energy Manager is a tool available for the pSeries that can monitor and control energy consumption for a server or more servers.
System administrators can create both long and short term energy usage reports through a graphical interface. After using these reports to analyze in depth the current energy use, the active energy Manager can be configured to implement energy saving measures, such as dynamically adjust fan speed according to the temperature of the room and turn off resources when not in use.
Virtualization and server consolidation also positively affect energy management, ensuring that systems using only the resources they need.
Communication
To contact the IBM pSeries from your Windows PC, you must use a terminal emulator. Terminal emulators to intercept and decrypt the data stream so that your PC can communicate with the pSeries. A terminal emulator is Zephyr PASSPORT, which provides VT, SCO ANSI and Wyse 60 emulation.
Vermont includes VT52 emulation December, December VT100, VT220 and VT420. The VT220 and VT420 emulation types can be set to 7-bit or 8-bit emulation. configurable options for TV and SCO ANSI emulation may include:
- Return key
The return key can be set to CR (carriage return) or CRLF (a combination of carriage return and line feed.)
- Answer Back Message
This option is used to establish a sequence of questions and answers between the host and client. This message was limited to 20 characters. The Reply message is usually used to identify the terminal to the host by sending a message to the host automatically without operator intervention. Hex is represented by the tilde and hex number. (An example is hex 0D hex ~ 13, which represents 13 sequence of ASCII characters).
- Local Echo
This second option echoes each character typed, for example, when writing p3, pp33 is shown again because the host also return the p 3.
- Cyclic
Wrap around option allows you to write beyond the limitation of 80 characters (on a screen 80 characters wide) by wrapping the line continues on the next line.
- Line transmission mode
This option sends an entire line. Compare this with the normal mode of transmission of characters, which is sent to each character in a character by character basis.
- Image Reverse screen
This option reverses the b
Background and foreground colors. For example, the customary black background with green letters becomes a green background lyrics black.
- Go Speed (lines per second)
Determines the speed at which the lines will move on the screen of emulation.
Like the VT220 and VT420, SCO ANSI emulation can also be used in 7-bit or 8-bits. The SCO ANSI keyboard layout is a superset of the VT220. Special ANSI keys include function keys F1 to F12, and the same function keys are used in conjunction with the Ctrl and Shift and Ctrl + Shift keys.
In addition some of the above options, the configurable options for Wyse 60 emulation may include:
- Line Status
Both the standard and Extended status lines display messages about the state of emulation or application. The Extended status line displays additional editing status messages.
- Extension Attribute
This option determines whether to see the attributes only apply to characters written to the screen (Char), is activated at the end line (Line) or the bottom of the page (Page).
- Auto Scroll
This setting determines what happens when the cursor moves beyond the last line of the current page.
- Send ACK
Specifies whether an ASCII ACK character is sent to the host after certain commands have been executed.

wii compatible keyboards?
Does anyone know USB and wireless keyboards that are compatible with the Nintendo Wii. Also I think I found one, but I do not know if it is compatible with the Wii. KeySonic is U + ACK-540 Clavier TouchPad Super Mini has a touch screen and mouse is only about 20 pounds. plz me can tell if it is compatible or tell me any otheres that are cheap and work with the Wii. thanks
