Sony VAIO VGN-FZ Review
Sony VAIO systems are portable with a sleek design, and often a higher price than their counterparts more traditional. VGN-FZ series of laptops offers attractive design, but the prices are reasonable at this time.
We take a look the Sony VAIO VGN-FZ190 CTO well equipped starting at $ 1,200. At that price, Sony packs in an Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 processor with two processing cores 1.8 GHz and 1 GB of 667MHz DDR2 rapid decent. The central government gives enough thrust to run the included Windows Vista Home Premium operating system.
These notebooks have a large 15.4-inch widescreen display that provides images with excellent resolution of 1280x800 and XBRITE Hi-Color. With NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT graphics board, these laptops have really game. These graphs have 256 MB dedicated video memory, and support for the latest DirectX 10 games.
The hard drive starts with a modest 100 GB 5,400 rpm drive. These systems support up to 250GB VAIO, so you can actually increase the storage space if you need more space to move. The default optical drive is a most basic combination DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive that can burn CDs and play movies on DVD, but DVD can not handle any type. You can upgrade to a dual-layer DVD writer for only $ 30, which lets you burn traditional DVDs and 8.5 GB DVD DL and DVD-RAM.
Or you can add a DVD recorder with Blu-Ray features to its VGN-FZ. These units handle all DVD recording them and can play high definition movies on DVD or Blu-ray disc burning, but add more than $ 400 price tag. NVIDIA graphics also includes a HDMI output port, so you can play Blu-Ray DVD on your HDTV home theater with this option as well.
Connectivity is cutting edge in these VAIO notebooks. In addition to a modem interface and network, the built-in 802.11a/b/g wireless support the new faster wireless N, so you will be able to connect at any WiFi access point you are.
There is an integrated camera and microphone, so you can video conference or video chat without having to pick up other accessories. And the Instant AV Mode lets you watch a DVD, listen to music or viewing photos without booting up the entire laptop.
Even with the 15.4-inch widescreen, these laptops weigh much less than six pounds, making it easier to port around the average mid-range laptop. And VGN-FZ just looks great with its silver finish and design to color with a keyboard in black or white.
